Breathwork ยท 3 min

Slow Belly Breathing

To invite the body into a calmer, restful state.

Why it helps

Most of us breathe high in the chest when stressed. Moving the breath low into the belly engages the diaphragm and gently stimulates the vagus nerve, signaling it's safe to settle.

How to practice

  1. 1

Place one hand on your belly, one on your chest.

  2. 2

Inhale slowly through your nose, letting the belly rise first.

  3. 3

Exhale gently, feeling the belly soften back.

  4. 4

Keep the chest still and the breath low and slow.

  5. 5

Continue for two to three minutes at your own pace.
